Dancehall Star Mad Cobra Arrested in US Traffic Stop After Cocaine and Gun Discovery

Popular Dancehall artist Mad Cobra, known for his hit song “Flex,” was arrested on Tuesday during a routine traffic stop in Florence County, South Carolina. Deputies pulled him over for speeding along I-95 and subsequently discovered 2 kilos of cocaine and a 9mm Beretta in his Black BMW SUV.

According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, the 55-year-old artist, whose real name is Ewart Everton Brown, is now facing charges of trafficking cocaine and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. After the search, he was taken into custody and is currently held at the Florence County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Mad Cobra rose to fame in the 1990s and gained international recognition with his hit single “Flex.” The song was recently sampled by American singer-actress Janelle Monáe in her latest single, “Lipstick Lover.” “Flex” was a major success, reaching No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and achieving Gold certification in the United States.

Despite his past success in the music industry with other hit singles like “Press Trigger,” “Dis Dem Anyweh,” “Dun Wife,” and “Defend It,” Mad Cobra now finds himself in a legal predicament due to the serious charges he faces following the traffic stop.
